POPTEEN Japan September 2009 YELLOW

POPTEEN Japan has released it's September 2009 issue. Personally, I really need to see a new face on the cover. As with most Japanese magazines, the cover model always seems to be the same. This wouldn't be too bad, but often the expression and pose are similar with each issue too. The month's cover is an extreme closeup which does look nice, but unlike EGG which went with a different model than usual, Popteen stuck with it's main face. As also with Egg, Popteen elected to have a Yellow based cover which is nice. There are sunflowers bordering the cover and some of the text is in orange to offset the extreme yellow.

There is an INCREDIBLE "Pop Model" Makeup Section inside that is really really good. It's one of the best I've ever seen and Gals will definitely love this month's issue for that insert alone. Indeed also POP SISTER will be releasing a second issue on 8/17. I'll be uploading the insert pages after I post this. There is no cover shot as it probably was still in production at the time the Popteen September issue was printing, but nonetheless, it looks like a second attempt with Pop Sister is here. All in all, this is a good issue of Popteen. It's jam packed with street photos so guys and gals will definitely be able to see what's happening on the streets of Shibuya 109, Tokyo Japan! Here are scans of the Pop Sister insert in Popteen for those who want a different view. The second special issue of Pop Sister will be released in Japan on August 17th, 2009. The issue will be labeled an October issue.

Western gals keep complaining about seeing Kumiko on the cover over and over again, but what about Japanese gals, I wonder? Tsubasa has now been on both covers of Popsister, but no one here seems to care. XDDD

Popsister is a new magazine that focuses on shibuhara-kei, or a blending between Shibuya and Harajuku styles. The hair and make are still very gyaru (Shibuya), but the clothing tends to be less coordinated and more mixed up (Harajuku). There is a big emphasis on used clothing, too.

Strangely enough, it uses a lot of the same models as Popteen, rather than having its own set of models.
